Gratitude

November 13, 2016

GRATITUDE – This is the warm feeling you get when you feel thankful for something or when you appreciate what someone has done for you.  It’s moments such as these where we find it easy to feel gratitude and to be grateful.  But what about those moments or days where we don’t see those things that brings us gratitude?

We can choose to have attitude of gratitude, to give thanks for everything that we have.  Be thankful for waking up today, for the breath you just took, for family, for friends, for a place to lay your head at night, and the list goes on.

When we focus on our gratitude we are able to ride the waves of challenges and disappointments we encounter, we learn to appreciate more and need less.  We focus on positive rather than negative, we learn to love ourselves and to love others. Did you know that studies indicate that there many benefits to writing down the things for which we are grateful – better sleep, fewer symptoms of illness, and more happiness.

What are you grateful for today?  I ask you to consider creating a gratitude journal for the next 60 days then share back with me via email if you so choose what the experience has done for you.  Let’s encourage each other through a heart of gratitude!

Tips for creating your gratitude journal: Don’t just go through the motions, provide details on those things you are grateful for rather than a “grocery list”, be personal (people rather than things for example), reflect on how your life would be without certain blessings, savor surprises and don’t overdo it (allow what you focus on to be meaningful not just writing for the sake of writing).
